British Swimming Ranking database

If you swim in any licensed competitive gala your times will get loaded to the ASA ranking database.  See how you compare with others in the country, region or national or just get a list of your own ‘licensed’ PB’s.

National ASA Website

THE place for National swimming news.  The Amateur Swimming Association is the English national governing body for swimming and other water sports.

Essex Swimming website

Contains details on Essex County ASA events, news, courses, county championship details (past results and future dates), county records and contacts etc.

National Speedo League - London

This site includes all sorts of details for the Speedo league competition, rules, results and league tables, as well as a discussion forum.  Click on the ‘London’ tab to see information in our area.

Basildon Council website

Maps to local swimming pools (Basildon, Wickford and Pitsea) and other local information.  See below for links related to the Sporting Village and proposed 50m pool.

Gogglebox - Swim Shop

Local (Leigh-on-Sea actually) swimming shop with loads of goodies!  They do a good line in prescription goggles...much cheaper than Boots or your local Optician.  Many items here can be bought in the club swim shop on Friday evenings.

Pullbouy Swim Site

This is a UK Swim site with lots more than just news and discussion.  There’s stuff here, on goggles, galas, techniques etc.  They even have a time converter from any pool length to another (very handy for 33m pool times!).  Have a rummage around!

Information site on Swimming.  Includes information on eating before and during swimming galas, technique tips and lots of onward swimming-related links.  Be careful of the pure marketing links but worth checking if you have are looking for something on swimming.

Pete’s Swimming Page

I don’t know who Pete is and whether he’s still maintaining his website (last update Jan ‘06?), but this site does include some interesting stuff on Olympic, 50m and outdoor pools!

if it’s open air swimming you have in mind, try this site. This site includes details of open air pools (Lidos) in the UK, their history and whether they are still open to the public. So whether you’re looking for something to do on a hot day at home or on holiday, or you’re just interested in the history, then have a look here.

Swimmers Guide

This is an international directory of pools around the world.  So if you’re looking for somewhere to swim while away from home, it’s worth looking here to find a pool.  If you know of one they’ve not listed (and it’s not the one in your back garden) let them know!

FINA Swimming Website

FINA is the World Wide Swimming Sports Organisation. This is the official FINA Website.  Contains swimming news, results, reports and more.

Swim City

Loads of swimming resources here.  Articles, technique tips as well as Individual Stroke Video Clips which include some top international swimmers.  Also, top 25 web site list which sadly we haven’t quite made yet.

Daily Train

Site targeted mostly at Triathlon athletes but includes swimming information as well.  Provides a facility to maintain your own Training log and a swimming tips section.  

Essex Swimming League

Website for the Essex Swimming League complete with fixture list, current league tables and rules

British Long Distance Swimming Association

As it says on the tin!  All about long distance (and they mean reeeally long) swimming.  At the bottom of the homepage you can find a list of recent Channel swimmers. Fancy a trip to Lake Windermere anyone?

ASA Child Power  

ASA site for dedicated to children and young people already involved in swimming, diving, synchronised swimming and water polo and for those who are thinking about getting involved.  Aimed at the younger swimmer.

Local community radio station for Basildon and East Thurrock.

Rather lightweight but there are some swimming technique clips targeted at the younger swimmer.
